We cannot speak of furniture designs without speaking of the Bauhaus School. Founded in 1919 by Walter Gropius, it has been one of the most important German intellectual movements, with the aim of connecting all spheres of art in an ideal synthesis. By means of new teaching methods, the intention was to liberate the artist from his academic specialization to once again be able to focus on the craftsman skills. Despite its short duration, the creative and productive period of Bauhaus masters prior to their expulsion by the Nazis in 1933, left an enormous mark on the history of art, which remains relevant up to these days. This particularly applies to Bauhaus furniture, which ideally reflects the demands of aesthetics and functionality.
